E-Mail Virus protection?

Postby MikeyCarter » Wed Feb 01, 2006 10:18 pm

How does the e-mail virus protection work? How do I know if it's running on my e-mail?

Thanks,

Hi,

We run the open source ClamAV on our Linux servers. It scans incoming and outgoing emails. You can see if it's working by looking at the email headers and looking for the strings:

X-Virus-Scanned: ClamAV version 0.88, clamav-milter version 0.88 on localhost
X-Virus-Status: Clean
X-Antivirus-Scanner: Clean mail though you should still use an Antivirus

Of course, the version number will change as newer ones are released.
