Inbound Traffic Issue - Post Mortem

CWH Clients,

After a thorough investigation of the network issue that occurred between 6:39am - 7:08am PT on March 3rd, 2011, our upstream provider discovered that the incident was the result of routing policy changes that were made to one of their core routers the previous evening, March 2nd, 2011. These policy changes were made to optimize routing during a vendor outage which caused their dedicated network link between their London and Amsterdam locations to drop. Unfortunately, an error was made within the policy and the effects of this error were not realized until the network link between London and Amsterdam was fully restored at 6:33am PT on March 3rd, 2011.
