Hi! I'm trying to chmod some files in my home directory to nobody so my php cms (joomla 1.5) has access to them without me setting permissions to 777. I researched on the internet a bit about how to do it and why what I was doing wasn't working. From what I understand I can't chown the files I want b/c I am not in the group nobody is in, right? Is it possible I could be added to "nogroup" so that when there is a problem with some of my files I can change it and not bother you guys?

Thanks,
Scott

ps. I have a php file manager that allows me to manage the "nobody" files just fine, except when I need to replace the files it runs on or need to change the ownership of some files I uploaded via ftp.

Hi Scott,

Your account is hosted on a shared server. Hence we are afraid we couldn't grant you permission to change the ownership of your files to nobody due to security reasons.

Just send in a request to us whenever you want to change the ownership/permissions. We will be glad to help you out.

Regards,
Divya
