Symlinks

Symlinks

Postby Surkow » Sun Oct 14, 2007 1:50 am

Is it possible to create symlinks with cpanel webhosting via ftp? For example, when I install a forum files can be uploaded via scripts (need write access - chmod 777). If there is no write access then I need to be able to create symlinks that link to the tmp directory.

Hi..
You can't create a sym link through ftp, but it can be done after ssh into server. :(

Please let us know if you want us to do the same for you. Kindly get back to us with the domain name and needed details. :)

The domain name is "fucmnack.com" and I have some experience using an SSH connection (using the sourceforge.net SSH shell). I just noticed that there was an SSH section in the cpanel and I'm going to try to setup a key. The only thing I'm wondering about is what server to connect to.

Hello Surkow :)

You can set up the ssh access with the help of video tutorial given along with the ssh access feature in cpanel interface.

It will connecting to the server (66.199.174.80) and you will land directly in to your home directory.

Meanwhile, you can enable ssh access from the AMC. For this..please login to the AMC and
enable SSH access given in Accounts section.
