More details please!

I am considering switching a couple of domains from another host to Canadian Web Hosting. I am a programmer and my sites use PHP, database, etc. Your hosting plan chart doesn't really tell me much - a "Yes" in a column is pretty vague for many items. For example, what version of PHP? MySQL? What PHP extensions are available? How many MySQL databases are allowed? How many FTP accounts? How many email accounts? And so on.

How about a page where you list everything in mind-numbing detail for us nerds? I have seen such pages at other web hosts - it makes it easy to see if what I want is available. If you don't want to do that, do you have some sort of "data sheet" you can send me? Or do I have to ask about each detail  ?

David,

Thanks for your comments. I'll forward it to the marketing dept and see if they'll add more details to the plans.

To your questions:

PHP 4.4.4
MySQL 4.1.21
PHP Extensions are listed here:

http://cp16.canadianwebhosting.com/test.php

We can add more if you need them.

Unlimited MySQL databases on Starter and Power. 50 on Basic.
Unlimited ftp accounts on all packages.
Unlimited email accounts on Starter/Power. 50 on Basic.

A couple more questions

Postby David » Mon Nov 20, 2006 11:49 am

Thanks for the info. More questions:

1. I will be transferring an existing site. It is now live and I don't want to disrupt access during the changeover, so I want to get an account set up and accessable via IP address so I can upload and test the site files, and not transfer the existing domain name for a couple of weeks, until I am sure the new site is working. Can I do that? There doesn't seem to be any way to do it on your signup page - all of the options want a domain name, either new or to be transferred immediately.

2. I see in another forum post that you have PHP 5 on some servers. Can I specify that my account be on a PHP 5 server? If so, how do I do that?

3. One of your installed PHP extensions is pgsql. Does this mean you support PostgreSQL? That would be nice - I like it better than mySQL.
