Before today, when you bought a non-wild card SSL certificate it would just protect one URL such as www.domain.com or domain.com.

Now, Geotrust and RapidSSL now automatically protect both the www and non-www portion at no extra charge.

Here's link to our SSL certificate offerings at http://www.canadianwebhosting.com/SSL_certificates.asp.

Can you clarify for me the difference between the various SSL certificates? And what is the best way to identify which one I need.

The differences between each one is as follows:

RapidSSL - used for low volume orders or low volume value, it has a browser recognition of around 99% and has $10,000 warranty (http://www.rapidssl.com/ssl-certificate ... faq.htm#12). If you are not looking brand SSL provider (Verisign, Geotrust, etc) or need an advanced site seal, then this certificate is the one for you.

GeoTrust QuickSSL and QuickSSL Premium - very similar to RapidSSL in terms of 99% browser recogition and $10,000 and $100,000 warranty (QuickSSL and QuickSSL Premium respectively) but they also have advanced site seal that you can put on your site (http://www.geotrust.com/ssl/ssl-site-seals/index.html). This is a brand SSL provider.

GeoTrust TrueBizID - $100,000 warranty plus it's a full organization validation. That means you need to fax your business documents to GeoTrust and they verify it by hand before issuing the certificate. The process can take several days. On the other hand, the above two is automated verification by email and issued within minutes. Plus advanced site seal.

GeoTrust TrueBizID with Extended Validation - $150,000 warranty with full organization validation. The big difference is the green address bar that is instantly recognizable on newer web browsers. Go to https://canadianwebhosting.com/signup.asp for sample.

GeoTrust TrueBizID Wildcard - $10,000 warranty with full organization validation. It allows you to secure as many subdomains for set fee. For example, you can secure www.domain.com, secure.domain.com, shop.domain.com, etc

If you are involved in the ecommerce business then surely you should have them to play in a secure environment. SSL or Secure Socket Layer is basically a security seal which is designed to authenticate websites. Whenever a user visits your website; they will look for security and legality of your website.
