Redirects

I can't seem to make a redirect properly and was wondering if someone could guide me through it. I use SMF and so often URLs will look something like this:

http://www.domain.com/index.php?page=6

How do I make it so that a user can type:

http://www.domain.com/BigYada

and have it go to the real link?

Thanks.

Hi Rus,

In your cPanel, there is a "Forwarders" button in the Domains section. Click on that and you can create the forwarder in a few simple steps. You just need to create the URL you want to use and where it forwards to.

If you need further assistance please contact our Support department.

Thanks,
Kings

Hello,

I don't have that option. I have forwarders under email, but not domains or anywhere else.

In Domains I have:

Subdomains
Add On
Parked
Redirects (I thought it was this one but could not make it work)
Simple DNS Zone Editor
Advanced DNS Zone Editor

Hi Rus,

Sorry about that, you are correct, the proper section is "Redirects" not "Forwarders", I guess I had my mind on email :)

When you are in the "Redirects" area, there is a gray box with some fields that you can enter. In the first box that says:

http://(www.)? ** All Public Domains **/

put the address you would like to use (ie. bigyada). It would look like this:

http://(www.)? ** All Public Domains **/ bigyada

then in the field underneath it there it asks where you want to redirect it to, you would enter something like:

http://www.domain.com/index.php?page=6

then click "Add" to complete the redirect. If you are still having difficulties making this work, please give our Support staff a call at 1-877-871-7888 and we would be glad to assist you.
